How to Use Inversely Proportional Calculator?
Follow the given steps to use the inverse variation calculator:
- Step 1: Enter the value for one of the variables and the proportionality constant.
- Step 2: Click on "Solve" to know the other variable.
- Step 3: Click on "Reset" to enter the new set of values.
The calculator shows the value of the other variable along with step by step solution.
How to find the Inversely Proportional Value?
When two quantities are related to each other inversely, i.e., when an increase in one quantity brings a decrease in the other and vice versa then they are said to be inversely proportional. Inverse proportion formulas help in establishing a relationship between two inversely proportional quantities.
Let x and y be two quantities.
Then y is said to be inversely proportional to x, and is written mathematically as:
y ∝ 1/x
y = c/x
Where x and y are the variables and c is the constant of proportionality.
Let us understand more about this with the help of the below-solved examples.

Solved Examples on Inversely Proportional Calculator
Example 1:
Find the value of y for the value of the variable x = 20 and constant c = 5. Use the inverse variation equation y = c / x.
Solution:
The given value of x is 20 and c is 5
y = c / x
= 5 / 20
= 0.25
Therefore the inverse proportion value of x, y = 0.25
Example 2:
Find the value of x for the value of the variable y = 300 and constant c = 21. Use the inversely proportional equation x = c / y.
Solution:
The given value of y is 300 and c is 21
x = c / y
= 21 / 300
= 0.07
Therefore the inverse proportion value of x, y = 0.07
Example 3:
Find the value of y for the value of the variable x = 34 and constant c = 7. Use the indirect variation equation y = c / x.
Solution:
The given value of x is 34 and c is 7
y = c / x
= 7 / 34
= 0.21
Therefore the inverse proportion value of x, y = 0.21
Now, try the calculator to find the value of x, when y is inversely proportional to x
- a) Variable y = 4 and Constant c = 60
- b) Variable y = 5 and Constant c = 30
